TJR is back to rip your heart out, baby. </3

I was a little underwhelmed by Taylor Jenkins Reid's most recent release, "Carrie Soto is Back," but I've loved enough of her other books to know I'd be picking this one up. And oh wow, has she returned to form with "Atmosphere."

The book's description definitely piqued my excitement: here we follow Joan, an astronomer who is accepted as one of NASA's first female astronauts, along a simultaneously inspiring and heartbreaking personal and professional journey.

Joan herself is a captivating and relatable character, but her relationships are what make the book really shine. There is of course the obvious central romantic relationship (not going to spoil it, but you will probably guess what's coming from the very first chapter), but you can't ignore the beautiful connection with her niece Frances and the friendships she develops with her fellow astronauts. Of course the space exploration raises the stakes of all these relationships, but the book at its core is really about the importance they hold in Joan's life.

Believe the hype, folks: you definitely want to give this one a go whether you're already a TJR fan or haven't give her a try yet. Bring the tissues and a flashlight, because you'll probably choose to read through the night rather than put the book down. And I think Joan would support that decision. ✨
