The most generic story to come out of the early 2010’s fantasy YA boom and tropification of current day romantasy. Saeris is a dime a dozen FMC whose personality consists of lackluster snark & being right because she is the MC.
This story feels like Feyre and Rhys were thrown into the vampire portion of Empire of the Vampire except with none of the finesse of storytelling. The antagonists were evil just cause. No other female character had depth and most just served to make the men look better, and the story romanticizes partner abuse for the sake of mates.
If I hadn’t spent money on it, I would have DNFed.
Also, I can’t look past the egregious audacity of the author to give an asshole like Fisher Gandalf’s ‘look to the east on the fifth day’ backstory.
