It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover

5.0

Let me start off by saying that as a domestic violence survivor I understand everything about this book. I loved Ryle, I rooted for him, and then I hated him. I hated him because Lily loved him so much, and he completely destroyed that. The first time he pushed her I knew it wouldn't be the last, because it's never just once. I read that part and I couldn't stop shaking my head. It was only a matter of time before it happened again. I didn't know how the story was going to play out entirely. A part of me wanted Ryle to change for her. I wanted her to forgive him and for him to be the best husband in the world. Unfortunately that's not how things usually work out. I was glad that she had Atlas and Allysa... I wish I had an Atlas and an Allysa when I was going through everything. I made it through almost the entire book without crying, and then she asked him for a divorce. When she asked him about what he would say to his little girl if she was in the same situation I completely broke. Despite her feelings, she did the best thing she could do for her little girl. Like I did for my little boy. I think Colleen did a great job of writing this. Only someone who has been through it really knows exactly how it feels, but she came pretty damn close to figuring it out. I hope this book saves someones life. It has definitely touched mine.
