The Thirteenth Tale
by Diane Setterfield
I've no clue how to categorize this story. Suspense? Thriller? It's a story within a story with a gothic feel. It is compelling and even though it took me a bit to get into it, once I did, I was all in. It's about stories and writing and words and the history of a mysterious famous author. It is all weirdness and incest and violence and disturbing and thrilling and I enjoyed it immensely. You think you see the twist coming, but you don't. It is clever and surprising and satisfying.
