I wanted to really like it but too many felt off for me. While I know Kay is in her mid twenties, she read like she was in high school. Uncle Sam’s overnight switch from verbally abusing Kay to miraculously becoming this sweet old man who loves her like a grandfather was unrealistic. Also that he was the town drunk and just quick cold turkey. Let’s be so for real. I love a man MC that falls for the woman first and is head over heels but Mich was obsessed with her in a weird way. He just got out of relationship because his ex was cheating on him and now he’s obsessed from the moment he meets Kay. Also, the was a focus on Kay being a virgin. She didn’t tell Mich. He realizes it when they have intercourse but proceeds to have rough intercourse with her. WTH!!! I will give him slight credit because he tried to pull away but she pulled him back in. But even then why would you be rough. Then her brother popped up at the end and proceeds to ask her if the man she was telling him about had “popped her cherry”. Kay is like why would you ask me that and her brother say “ I’m a man first, then your brother.” Sir what does that even mean and why would you ask your sister that? I almost DNF’d because of that alone but I was near the end so I pushed through. Only to be met with Mich love bombing Kay. Ya’ll met 2 months ago and didn’t actually starting dating until the end of the book due to lack of communication on both ends. He just got out of a relationship and has trust issues. She’s never been in a serious healthy relationship and runs away from everything. And I’m supposed to believe that they run off and get married and live happily ever after.
