I was really excited to read this because I'm a big fan of cover art, and this looked amazing. I was stoked to read a horror story based in Japanese folklore. I'm sorry to say I was pretty disappointed. There was definitely creepy imagery and lots of folklore was mentioned, but I thought it could have been explored more, or taken a more central place in the story. The characters all seemed awful and totally at odds throughout the story. The language was a bit overwrought, which gets distracting for me, and some of the narration and dialogue seemed repetitive and unnecessary.
