Ughhh I thought this was a great book. I was a bit skeptical considering my favorite characters wouldn't be in this book but I was surprised. The new characters, minor or not, were introduced in a great way and I wasn't confused at all.
Yelena's childhood and backstory was also introduced in this book and it added so much to her character. Seeing her interaction with her family was so bittersweet as it took 14 years and when she finally met them she had gone through so much, but I loved how open she was to it. Her brother Leif tho? He a bitch... I wish she punched him AT LEAST ONCE. I empathized with his feelings of self-loathing, guilt, and hate but dude needs some therapy omg.... as the oldest sibling I'm embarrassed for him because I understand being jealous of siblings but I never hated them for it. Making us eldest siblings look bad euhhh 😠However, I did like the conclusion to their relationship as the author thankfully made them more like siblings.
GOING BACK TO YELENA. OMG THE MAGIC SHE LEARNED?!?!?!? Ughhhhh I loved it so much! I saw a few reviews stating they didn't like it because Valek was missing but bruh... Did yall miss all the cool ass magic in this book?!?!?! Girly pop can HEAL PEOPLE, TALK TO ANIMALS, TALK INTO PEOPLES MINDSSSSS, AND EVEN MANIPULATE SOULSSSSSSS THATS SO FUCKING COOL! Idk what readers were thinking but all the personal character growth and magic in this book was fucking awesome. This book made me appreciate the author more!
Overall its a great book and a wonderful sequel and made me super excited to finish the third one... I know there's more than three and I'm so glad there is because the worlds politics, magic, and environments are amazing I never want it to end!
