Abulhawa’s ‘Mornings in Jenin’ is an extraordinary book, tracing the journey of a single family through the generations involved in the ongoing Palestine and Israel conflict. So much to learn from this book, making the headlines a real and lived experience for the characters involved. Abulhawa makes this so much more than a historical journey, however, as her storytelling and use of language are outstanding.
Heart/wrenching book, which I read through tears for much of the way. The ongoing plight of the Palestinian people is laid out here for all to see; would that more people had read it, so that they could be better informed in their comments on the subject. Abulhaya’s novel is not a book me-sided account, as it explores the conflict from many angles; not an easy task in itself.
Stunning book, which I can’t recommend enough.
