Knot My Sin by Jenn Bullard

Some reviews said this was too close to Pack Darling but really couldn’t see it with this one. There were some similarities but nothing major that paralleled that book other than two omegas, killing/fighting, and rejected mates.

I thought this book was a bit longer than it needed to be. About 70% in was when it started feeling a bit like the author wanted to hit a word count. I liked Aisling and was happy Wren figured out what she wanted to do with her life but then throwing together plans, building a she-shed, and having a fundraiser for a new business within like two weeks felt rushed.

There is some graphic child abuse in this book and multiple rape scenes that are hard to read. While awful, I get why they were needed but the characters affected had almost zero emotional issues from it. Wren spent 10 years with a pedophile and is really just numb for a short part of the book. After that she seems to jump in to having crazy sex pretty quick. Meanwhile one of the male characters get raped and they just have him sit in an epsom salt tub and that’s it. I think that was the least believable thing in book and what made the graphic abuse feel even more graphic and unnecessary. I wanted to see her mates help her with her mental state more than just giving them names to kill. I wanted to see that trust build.

I don’t really understand the relationship between Shaw and Wren. We are told they are scent matches and that is a magical thing but it doesn’t seem to do anything other than change his eye color? You would think that he would need to hold her and protect her and need to be around her a lot once he found out but he seemed to be mostly running errands. Whenever he wasn’t running errands it seemed like he was wrapped around Flynn. I think I wanted more of a connection from him. I wanted him to be a bit more whipped and groveling than he was. Ambrose was the one sleeping on her floor at night, not her scent match. I wanted them to be a pack but being told that a scent match was special made me think they would have more of a bond.

I also did not like Flynn. There were parts that I liked him but he was such a weird, inconsistent character. He buys this woman from a sex slave market because he feels like she is important and he’s worried about her. But then his alphas throw her in a trunk and he’s just shaking his head saying “boys will be boys”. When they leave her in the trunk he is more concerned about having sex than her being okay and doesn’t remember to check on her? You bought a human for two million dollars that you can tell has had a shitty life and you just don’t care about them? Huh? He talks about how he needs to control his nest but instead of helping Wren with her next he just makes one for her. He treats her like a little sex doll more than a friend.

The violence from the guys honestly did not bother me but I do agree with other reviews that the gore was more detailed than the sex scenes. Sex scenes were more dirty talk than any descriptions which is fine but also weird because Wren’s flashbacks show how she was spoken to when abused and you would think that was triggering for her.
