The Good Lord Bird by James McBride
4.0

This is a book I read for the book club I read for work and is one I am happy to have read. It's not the sort of book I generally reach for, but I was pleasantly surprised by the humor and wit the story presents itself with. This book follows Henry Shackleford as he is "freed" from slavery by John Brown and ends up posing as a girl for the majority of the book. This book follows his life leading up to the raid on Harper's Ferry and explores issues of race, gender and identity.

Overall if you like historical fiction and irreverent comedy this is a good book for you!
