I am prepared to believe that a connection exists between the health of my gut (digestion, microbiome, permeability of the intestinal wall) and my autoimmune condition. It makes sense. This link has been described by others from Andrew Weil to Brenda Watson. I am prepared to believe that the conventional medical system has not proved this connection yet, that there are money-related barriers to getting the proper research done. And, I am prepared to believe in simple solutions - proper nutrition, elimination of toxic foods, supplementation, stress reduction, etc. etc.

The problem is that for me Dr. Myers is a flawed messenger. This is a book-length ad for her proprietary line of products, also heavily advertised on Facebook. The Myers Way is presented as an all or nothing approach without room for incrementalism. No way to get better by gradually introducing improvements. It is a radical elimination diet and supplementation protocol that would cost money, time, effort and energy. Would it help? I will never know because I can't invest such vast amounts of any of those things when I have so much doubt in me.

So, for me, the search for a guide through the medical maze continues.
