Brutal Prince
by Sophie Lark
Where do I even start? I am so conflicted with this book. On the one hand, I was entertained, I was able to get through this book without it rotting my brain. But on the other hand, I hated this completely.
Don't get me started on the illustrations. Unnecessary and mediocre. All the illustrations of the men looked the same, like Dante and Callum could have been twins, in my opinion. Plus, the illustrated s*x scenes made me go partially blind for a time.
Adia is childish and has the pick me "I'm not like other girls" persona. Even though she was one of the more bearable characters with some definable personality traits, she still came off as plain and boring.
Callum can rot in hell. Who the hell says women should obey and be controlled???? Well, Callum certainly does say so! It made my skin crawl with the way he spoke about his previous "relationships" (If you can even call them that) and his first thoughts he had about Adia being his wife. Like holy shit I couldn't stand it. Like I understand that some people like that controlling possessive kinda thing, but this was just plain disgusting. The worst thing he made Adia do was force her to wear a dress she didn't want so when she said no he removed all of her clothes and underwear from her wardrobe and drawers while she was in the shower. After she reluctantly has to put on the dress, he makes her leave the house with no underwear as punishment???!?!?!?!? Omfg, I nearly threw my Kindle across the room. Overall Callum gets a 1/10 for being human trash.
Lastly, the writing and overall story left me needing more. The author would add in big exorbitant words every once in a while to add a bit of spice, but apart from the incessant f bombs to add as adjectives, I was bored. Plus, some of the sentences and filler monologues were unnecessary and didn't make sense or added purpose to the storyline as a whole. Also, why was there so much build up to the butcher being this all mighty hard core guy with tons of power. Just for him to hardly show up and do some back talk and scratch Callum to then being killed off at the very end by a single gunshot? We didn't even get to see the scene play out. It was just an added detail in a phone call!!!
I can confidently say I have read BTS x Y/N mafia wattpad stories written by 16 year olds better than this one.
