Free Ride: Heartbreak, Courage, and the 20,000-Mile Motorcycle Journey That Changed My Life by Noraly Schoenmaker
4.0
‘Now, five years after my first motorcycling adventure, I have gathered the courage to share these experiences.’
Noraly Schoenmaker has a YouTube channel (Itchy Boots - YouTube) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEIs9nkveW9WmYtsOcJBwTg with more than two million followers. I am one of them, and when I learned that she was publishing a memoir, I had to buy a copy.
While I have watched many of Ms Schoenmaker’s videos of her solo motorcycle trips in various countries, I was keen to learn more about the woman and her motivation. Ms Schoenmaker’s travels arose from a personal crisis. Her restlessness after the breakdown of a long-term relationship provided the impetus for travel, her experiences in India provided opportunity and motivation.
I enjoyed learning more about some of the places she visited, was blown away by her determination and delighted to read about the support she received.
From my perspective, this is a book best read in conjunction with watching Ms Schoenmaker’s videos. This book is about the why and the how, but the videos actually take you there.
