Shadow's Kiss by T.M. Hart

Not that dark story that was promised

The beginning of the book is somewhat boring, they first go somewhere by car, then go somewhere by foot. Then they jump through the portals. Then the boring descriptions of dressing and undressing. A lot of describing of clothes. Most of the book goes by jumping from one gloomy building to another. From one dress to another.

Everything that happening in this book is surreal and absolutely absurd.

The number of times our heroine gets sousing is ridiculous. She is always wet and not just in sexual way.

So what do we know about our sunshine hero? That he isn't really sunshine. He is always angry and constantly growls, he knows how to purr. He's obviously rich. He has an irresistible sexual desire for heroine. He has a hobby. No. What does he do in life. Unknown. He just a hot sad boyo that need love and hugs.

But does he deserve it. I don't think so. He sees our heroine as ruined and wants to fix her. Make her whole again.

What do we know about our heroine? She's kind stupid soul with darkness inside.

I don't understand the connection between the main characters. Their so-called indestructible bond sometimes arises, then is again lost when it is convenient for the plot. And their first intimacy comes out from nowhere.

The only thing that attracts and holds attention (barely) in this book is the mystery. The heroine's past, the personality of the Dark One, what story connects them. Sexual tension is non-existent and intimate scenes are not hot, with a hint of romance. The characters do not evoke any sympathy. Well, maybe just G. He was exaggerated, but at least with a spirit.

And then they flew on a jet and I was like, "Huh, I didn't know this was the modern world."

When you complete the book, you will not have the feeling of "hmm, I did not expect such a turn", all that awaits you is "I knew it, meh!" Everything is pretty predictable. (At least in the first book.)
