I Wish We Had Forever by Jessica Peterson

Why are all the damaged men so hot?!?!?

Jen and Abel are childhood friends in small town North Carolina. Abel had a shoddy upbringing and was taken in by Jen's family since he and Tuck, Jen's brother were practically inseperable.

Jen comes back to visit, as her dad needed to speak to her and tells her tha he has cancer. He lets her know its early and treatable but he lets her know his wishes were that he see her settled down and happy. Shortly after, he has the same conversation with Abel. Abel decides that the one way to make him happy is for him and Jen to fake a marriage so that if on the off chance something happens to him, at least he got to see two of the important people in his life happy.

Abel is the town "playboy" reportedly sleeping with married women of the houses he works in as a contractor and Jen is the good girl who's had a crush on him for years, not knowing that he may feel the same.

Jen moves into Abel's house which is essentially hidden in the woods with her two dogs "Cher and Tai" (we STAN a Clueless reference), two dogs who also IMMEDIATELY become obsessed with Abel.

The two decide to wait to tell Joe and Tuck until after Tucks wife give birth because they're under more than enough stress already. But word gets back to Tuck after the two are seen out on a few dates.

There's a TON of wil they wont they, more from Abel because due to his upbringing he feels he's incapable and undeserving of love and happiness. Which after spending time with Jen and speaking with Joe he understands that he's NOT his father and that he deserves all the greatness, love and happiness that comes to him.

Although Tuck was super upset after finding out the two of them had gotten "married" he finally comes around after Joe reminds Abel of all the "nice things" he's done for Jen over the years, he proceeds to show Abel a box of memories of stuff he's done to show just how important he was to her.

The two of them realize that their "fake marriage" comes with real feelings and those real feelings have been there for a LONG time!

This is definitely a 5 star book for me and let me just tell you the spice.....it DEFINITELY spices in this book!
