Carrying Albert Home: The Somewhat True Story of A Man, His Wife, and Her Alligator by Homer Hickam

Did not finish book.
I'd liked "Rocket Boys" by this author. Perhaps I should have paid more attention to the blurb comparing it to "Big Fish" ... which I know many enjoyed, but it left me shaking my head. This ... just left me sad from the start. I know it was supposed to be funny and farcical, but the mom, agreeing to marry against what she really wants, being so attached to the alligator (given to her by a previous love interest), the poor husband "it's me or the alligator" and she has to think about it for a while. The poor kids born into this union ... maybe I was just taking it too seriously, too realistically, but it was all just sad and miserable and I really didn't want to continue reading.

I don't feel like I read enough to rate it really, but just wanted to record my thoughts.
