She Went All the Way by Meg Cabot

4.0

I seriously loved this book! Meg Cabot is a terrific author! At first, I was hesitant to pick up this book at the library because this was her first modern romance novel and those can sometimes be really rough if the author is just trying to explore the genre, before they find their groove after a few tries. But this was spot on. It was funny and passionate and wonderfully written and I'm sorry to Meg Cabot that I ever doubted it for a second.

First of all, I adored the love-hate relationship between Lou and Jack. It was great that the reader could actually see them fall in love with each other, instead of one starting out hopelessly in love and the other coming around. They seriously hated each other at the beginning, not just fake hate to cover up feelings, so that made the novel really honest.

Another reason I loved this book was that it was told from different perspectives. It switched narratives every chapter, which kept the pace really upbeat. There weren't slow, lagging moments in the book because it would leave off on sort of a cliff hanger with a set of characters before moving to the next and then back to a different set. That kept it definitely exciting because I wanted to keep reading to get back to the first set of characters and then I was left wanting more with the second set but we were onto a third.... It makes more sense when you read it, I promise.

And the detail was just to die for! I could picture everything very clearly, it was like watching an action-romance movie in my head.

Basically just everything about this book was great. The only reason I would give it four stars is because ***SPOILER ALERT**** I knew it was Tim pretty much the entire time. From the first time his character was introduced, I literally thought "Bet it's him" and my suspicions never strayed from him. I wish there was a bit more whodunit or that the killer was some random person that couldn't have been predicted at all because they didn't show up until they were caught. Like a member of the film crew or something. I would never have guessed that because they weren't mentioned at all. But it made sense that it was Tim, too, so I can't really complain about that. That little bit was the only part that was predictable in the book. I didn't know when they would get shot at next, or how they would survive the night, or even that the hotel room would be blown up. That was all a surprise, so I was not disappointed.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Meg Cabot (obviously), a good mystery, a witty love-hate relationship, romance novels, Sophie Kinsella, or just an enjoyable read. Really. You can't go wrong with this one.
