Al Franken, Giant of the Senate by Al Franken

5.0

Goddamn it this book is great. It's hilarious, and it's the sincerest political memoir I've read.

This is a hard review to write because obviously I know that since this was written Al Franken was forced to resign over a very sensitive subject, but I'm of the general opinion that we liberals have been hoisted with our own petard in that regard. This is a case of sexual misconduct where I think the allegations are either completely false, or ridiculously exaggerated, and the motivation for dishonesty is obvious. And I'm not just saying this because I like Al Franken. There are other people I like and wont defend. But the evidence for Al acting in bad faith is weak, and a policy of listen and believe opens us up to having all our best efforts sabotaged by bad actors.

This book just cements for me that we lost one of our best when he resigned.
