The Call of Cthulhu by H.P. Lovecraft
3.0
I'm a bit perplexed about the amazing reviews of this book. I must admit that the only reason I knew about it was due to the Metallica song of the same name. However once I looked into it this book has a massive cult following, I can't see why.
Yes it was good and some of the descriptive writing was very well done and built up a good atmosphere, especially when it describes R'lyeh. However I didn't really get into the story. A man finds his uncle's work which leads him to find out about Cthulu who was from the stars. Then just as you think something is going to happen, it finishes?
Maybe it's me, maybe I'm not cultured enough to appreciate it or something. But it just didn't do it for me.
Still good if you've got an hour or two to kill though.
