Elizabeth Is Missing by Emma Healey
5.0

I really enjoyed this audiobook. I loved the character Maude with her dementia which made me feel sad and also helped me to understand what it must be like to be suffering from dementia. Despite Maude having dementia she was really pretty smart and tenacious! Her daughter Helen was a complex character- she obviously loved her mother but also had bouts of frustration at her dementia and anger that she was spending every day caring for her mother while her brother lived in another country. Her granddaughter Katie was spunky and fun and knew just how to smooth things over and make her grandma feel better. The underlying story of Elizabeth is missing is just the start of the mysteries within the book. If you listen rather than read, listen carefully or you just might miss important details.
