Steph's Outcast
by Ruby Dixon
Although I think Steph would make an absolutely awful psychiatrist, this ended up being one of my favorite stories in the Icehome series.
We've met the two survivors of the island's outcast clan briefly in other installments, and Steph has taken it upon herself to try and get Juth and his adopted son, Pak, to join the Icehome community. Unfortunately, Juth is hella stubborn and is resistant to her efforts. But when Steph is injured, he steps up to save her, and after spending more time with her, decides to try and leave the old ways behind and join the rest of her clan.
I think of all the more recent Icehome books, this one has the best storyline. It's more than just a girl fighting resonance or miscommunication between an alien and a human. There's something new and different that the Icehome residents have to deal with and interesting changes occur.
I also ended up really loving Juth even though I didn't care for him much in earlier books. He has some great character development, and he ended up being so super sweet. And Pak is just freaking adorable!
Overall, just really happy with this one, and I can't wait to see what's going to happen now that there have been some changeups in the tribe!
