Something Wonderful by Judith McNaught

4.0

Ooooo another great read from JM.

Loved both the main characters of Alexandra and Jordan.

Jordan (like a lot of men in this genre) is a rake. He takes his pleasure from women, doesnt particularly like them and has no intention of getting married.
Alexandra even though she was barely 18 in the beginning of this book, she is very sheltered and naive, unaware of the type of life men like Jordan live and the marriages that happen within the Ton.

Anyway they meet when Jordan was being held at gunpoint, Alex rides in and saves him and prompty faints. He thinks she is a young boy...well for one she is dresses in trousers and she doesnt have huge breasts...so duh obviously she is a boy (right! lol).

Anyway because he thinks she is a boy he takes her to an inn to see if she has any injuries...but hey she is a girl but before long the gossips gossip about how she has been compromised and they cant have a girl like that living in their village or marrying any of their sons.

BLAH BLAH BLAH you know how that goes in HR's.

He ended up marrying her, and 4 days into their marriage he gets whacked up the head and put on a ship, then ends up in a French prison.
1 year later he escapes and makes his way home only to learn not only has his cousins taken his Dukedom (is that a word?) but he is marrying his wife, so he has to rush to stop that before Alex becomes a bigamist.

Now the good stuff starts, Jordan is back, Alex is livid with him, they make a deal and eventually they both start to fall in love with each other. Before its all doom and gloom again. With a lot of conclusions jumped to and a lot of hard work, finally they can live happily ever after.

Now maybe the above makes it sound like I am being lighthearted about this but it really was an entertaining read.

Alexandra I really did like. Probably more so in the end to Victoria from Once & Always. Alex wasnt perfect, she couldnt do everything and I really loved the way she handled herself when Jordan showed up again, altho I wouldnt have kept my temper as much as she did.
Jordan was your typical rake with a heart that he didnt realise.
He had a horrible upbringing and was a terrible womaniser but for some reason I couldnt help but like him. He really peeved me off at the end when he thinks she is trying to kill him, it was so obvious she wasnt that I would have smacked him up side the head if could.

I loved the character of Jordan's grandmother as well. Just shows that all older people in these HR dont have to be cold and evil. She might have started off that way but by half way through she was brilliant.

Oh also more brownie points for Jordan, he didnt sleep with his mistress after they were married, he let her go and she decided to be a cow and stir things up and be mean to Alex. She needs a slap if you ask me.

Anyway I am getting off track now, I thoroughly enjoyed this and am now about to start the 3rd and last in the series "Almost Heaven"
