sskromp 's review for:
Black Like Me
by John Howard Griffin
This book was difficult to put down. His novel like diary entries had me captivated. However, though the writing was good, the content itself wasn't wow for me. A white man undergoes medical darkening to experience being black and then (gasp!) life is hard? I appreciate the environment in which this book was released and how difficult it was for him to do this in the late 50s. Especially with how eye opening and ground breaking this was for white people to read and experience. However, I'm not entirely sold on his project and therefore, was tough to give it beyond a three star rating.
