If you’re looking for a book which is glamorous, romantic and has badass heroes (I like to think the women are the main characters and the men are just the sidekicks), with a good chunk of demon slaying, this is the book for you!

I haven’t read a book by Cassandra Clare in a long time and it’s safe to say I’m not disappointed with this new series.

I’m still in love with Cassandra’s writing and the stories she creates. Especially because this series is a carry on from the Clockwork series, I felt like I was visiting an old friend whilst I was reading.

It would be helpful if you have read the Clockwork series recently or can remember the characters really well - this book was a bit iffy for me at the beginning just because I couldn’t remember all the characters! Saying that though, Cassandra does write like she isn’t expecting readers to know the characters or the events that happened in the Clockwork series, so I wouldn’t let that discourage any readers new to Cassandra’s work.

This book kept me on my toes, constantly flinging in new twists, so much so that I couldn’t settle until I had my answers! The ending of the book is just wow and I can’t wait to read the next one to find out what happens! The ending was also really nice because it tied up some of the loose ends which had been bugging me throughout the novel (although it left a massive cliffhanger!).

I loved meeting these characters and it’s safe to say I fell in love with them all, with special mention to my alcoholic friend Matthew 😂 it was lovely reading as the characters, especially Cordelia, grew in confidence and self worth, and I can’t wait to see where this group of friends ends up next.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone. Even if you haven’t ventured into the fantasy genre before, I would recommend you get your hands on this book because I’m sure you’ll love it - The Clockwork series was the first fantasy series I properly enjoyed!
