Heart of Dracula by Kathryn Ann Kingsley

5.0

Such a great book! For this book, I feel that I personally was able to click more with the female lead, Maxine. She is an empath and feels and understands emotions on such a deep level, and I myself can be quite an emotional person as well (although not to Maxines extent thankfully lol), and she always seems to have a million things going through her head all of the time. As I was going through the book, it was nice watching her evolve from being a quiet and more reserved person, to mostly, speaking what is on her mind, I loved her character development. Enter Vlad, Vlad Tepes Dracula. Holy cow. I love his character! And he most definitely does not sparkle. Once again I love how Kathryn shines a light on more than the "good guy" and we can see the "villain" take center stage, and of course gets the girl (or so we hope). For me, when I was first reading about him, he seemed hellbent on destroying the city, and then he finds Maxine, or more like she unintentionally found him. Then she is able to see through his very many layers, and I feel we see him in a different light. I must also say, I definitely enjoyed the coffin scene. In general, I wouldn't say this book was a whirlwind, the scenes were definitely set, and the character development was there. I also fricking loved the banter between Maxine and Vlad. All in all, I definitely recommend to READ THIS BOOK!! lol
