I'm not very sure how to properly explain the thoughts that are currently floating in my mind as I'm a bit irresolute (if this is the correct english word) about all of this, so please bear with me.

To start with something, I'll begin with the 'mood' part of the review: I didn't know which one to add, because to me personally, none of these fit. In the description of the book, it says it is 'dark' and 'mysterious', which I both don't really agree with - there isn't anything mysterious in the book, everything is told pretty matter of factly; you know what is going on at any point.
I wouldn't call it 'dark', either. To me personally, a 'dark' book is one in which everything (the topics, the scenarios the characters find themselves in, their thought-processes, etc.) is explored in a deep manner. Obviously it also has to have darker topic/s - which this book has, just read its description, but it all is in such a surface-level matter that I couldn't immerse myself in their fears, their worries, and so on, which stops me to call this 'dark'.
Why it is written like this is explained in one of the last few pages of the book (I won't say why as to not spoil anything, of course), and it being written in this manner doesn't take anything away. I'm just trying to explain why I'm not sure what 'mood' to put this in.

Next, this book is very fast-paced, everything happens really quick. I'm not too in line with how it ended; without revealing anything, about 70-85 pages in I felt that it is dragging on a bit. I'm not sure if I think it would better have ended there, if the last few chapters should have taken a different turn, or if I just think that the last few chapters didn't fit that well with the rest. It might be a mix.

Before these last few chapters I would have rated the book higher, but now I've settled on a 3/5: reasons are the points I named above, mixed with it turning out to not necessarily be my cup of tea (I like the themes and story-idea, but I prefer books that dive deeper).
Even so, I enjoyed this book quite a bit. I would recommend this for people who are currently on the lookout for a quick, comfy, and somewhat interesting read. 🌙
