Parable of the Sower
by Octavia E. Butler
It’s crazy reading this book right now. It’s a brutal book, and the violence was a lot. I found listening to the audiobook helpful, but definitely had to take time away from it.
What a seer Octavia Butler was though. This novel is prescient, sharp, devastatingly sad, and yet hopeful in some undefinable way. Like she was trying to leave us future earthlings a roadmap: a warning, a sign, permission to believe in beautiful, regenerative, and paradigm-shifting ideas. Lessons in courage.
