It all makes sense at the end, I promise. I'm kicking myself a little for almost DNF-ing RIGHT when it all gets explained, because I genuinely do like the plot twist. Everything before it and after it, though, is pretty thematically muddled and hard to get through. Samantha is fucking mean, and her weird psuedo-misogyny/fixation on heteronormativity does not get resolved by the end. (Spoiler alert: her best friend is a swan and the only way she felt she could date her was to create a demonic bunny-man to do it in her stead.) She's not like other girls at the start and she's still not like other girls at the end. I almost wish I could have read a book about one of the Bunnies themselves instead.

Despite that, this was genuinely funny and touching at some points, and the ending is (at least for me) pretty rewarding. The plot twist comes far too late in the game, but if you're able to get through the first 2/3rds of this, it makes a fun read.
