My Love Story by Deborah Davis, Dominik Wichmann, Tina Turner

2.0

I’m a fan of Tina’s, I liked her unique voice, her songs and, with the minis and those high heels, her Queen of Rock 'n' Roll persona. If you got it, flaunt it, baby! I didn’t read her first autobiography, but I knew about her emotional relationships with her mother and the very public break up with Ike. From this memoir I learned more about her life, especially the later years, her battle with illnesses and her new found love.

To be honest, I didn’t enjoy this book as much as I was expecting, her tone is often self-congratulatory and even a bit arrogant. She comes across very defensive about her poor life choices, and, despite Tina’s repetitive denial, a proper diva to me, too much attached to material things, like the cars, expensive shoes and outfits, houses, etc. Still one cannot but admire her energy and talent. Good on you Tina.
