The Stray Prince by Ella Fields
5.0

Sweet Holiest of titfires... This book...

It never seems to matter the sub-genre that this author writes in because if they are her words then I will read them and fall in love. A King so Cold was one of my top books of 2020. So, it should be no surprise that The Stray Prince would follow its predecessor and own my heart. It would be unfair to say, in my opinion, whether this book surpasses the other one because it hit differently than the first book. This one didn't need the world-building that the first one did and, instead, focused on expanding on the amazingness and heights of my imagination. I can say, however, that it definitely met my expectations and exceeded them in a different way than I was expecting.

I found that I was more invested with Audra and Zad in this book than I even was in the first book because I felt like I knew them. They were not just fictional characters. Instead, they were real in my mind and their love story was MY love story which made the angst in this book hit harder. I wanted to scream at them when they were being difficult or when there didn't seem to be a solution out of the situations that they both found themselves in. I didn't have another character like Raiden pulling at my heartstrings and instead, my focus was just on these two. All I wanted was for these two characters to be able to find their happy medium and to give in to their bond.

This road was bumpy. There were a few moments of the book that wondered how, or even if things were going to change. This author didn't make it easy. There are some pretty big twists and turns that were unexpected but also were fantastic because it gave me pause, and made me want to swear my eternal love and devotion to this author because she enthralled me yet again. There was the perfect balance of story and steam. Good Lord, the steam...

There are so many more things that I could say about this book, but either I cannot give anything away because it will ruin the epicness that is this book, or because simply my mere words could not do this book justice. There is a reason that this author is not only a one-click author but also one of my all-time favorites. I highly recommend this book. It is most definitely going in my top books of 2021.
