How to End a Love Story by Yulin Kuang

challenging emotional sad medium-paced

3.5

This book was annoying and it falls short. The audience is held prisoner expecting a guantlet and suddenly with ten pages left, we make a sharp, reckless turn. It falls short on mental health rep (We could have really went some where if we went more in depth for Grant) and family dynamics (IN MY OPIONION). There's no hope in this plot?? There's no healing??? A major factor in the tragic accident doesn't even get revealed??? On page at least? There's some gross moments that are supposed to portray longing and lust but all it does is cheapen the romance. Not my cup of tea but I'm conflicted because this is definitely something I can see as a tv show or movie. In order for this to be a "Dee Book", I needed more vignette style meditations for each lead. There's a bit of this magic on page 270-271 and it gives you a glimmer of what could be but it never goes further than that bit.
