It’s not the at easy to rate a book that is such a staple of modern literature and was reviewed, interpreted and analyzed so many times.

I listened to the audio version, which from time to time really was a challenge because so much is going simultaneously. Kafka was a genius, I don’t think that’s much of a debate, and the way he describes absurd situations, places and dialogue is so unique and honestly quite entertaining.

I was really entertained by some of the scenes, others left me confused or even disturbed. It’s in the nature of the book, that Kafka never finished before his death and exists in different editions concerning the order the chapters are in. It’s confusing! But it’s fun.

I won’t go into all the ways the book can be interpreted because there are enough people that are much more capable to do so. Being in a situation that feels overwhelming and unclear myself makes me feel empathetic to K, although he’s such an unlovable character. And that’s enough for me at the moment. I might have to read it a couple more times to fully grasp its story (if that’s ever possible)!
