Second Foundation by Isaac Asimov

5.0

Like the previous book, given the fact that the book is split into two very different stories, it's difficult to rate both halves into a consistent rating as a whole.

The first story, Search by the Mule, is extremely excellent. The story starts off with a bang and has a very fast paced as the two great powers of the Mule and the Second Foundation collide. My only regret is that Asimov didn't make this story longer, if not all of the novel, given how high quality it was. It was a relatively short story, but was a most excellent one that I thoroughly enjoyed.
5 Stars. (Extremely Good)

The second story, Search by the Foundation, was also good, but not as good as the previous story. Unlike Search by the Mule, there aren't as high stakes since neither side are really villains in this story (and the real villains aren't that powerful/important to the main thrust of the story). Like most Foundation stories, it had a great twist ending (though I kind of saw the twist coming 1/3 of the way through it). Still, while it was an enjoyable read, it lacked the intensity and suspense of the previous story.
3.5 Stars-4 Stars. (Very Good)

Overall Rating: 4.5 Stars. (Excellent)
