Red Knight Falling by Craig Schaefer
3.0

Harmony Black is back. There’s little rest for the Vigilant Lock, a secret op created to deal with occult threats. As usually things go off the rails and a simple side-job turns into saving the world kind of job. Team members must recover the Red Knight satellite that seems to attract a hostile unknown entity. The thing is there’s more than one group of people interested in the satellite and its content.

Mayhem follows.

As usually action is steady, loud and violent. Maybe not 100% logical but I didn’t expect it to be. I have to admit, though, that the ending was a bit irritating.

Characters develop a bit and there’s more focus on Kevin – awkward computer prodigy and Jessie who’s one of her kind. April stays in the background. While the characters aren’t really bad I can’t help but notice they lack chemistry and charm of Daniel Faust gang. Truth is I’m not particularly keen on Harmony. She’s a bit dull. On the other hand, Craig Schaefer plays a long game. All of his books and their meta plot interconnect. That’s why I plan to continue with Harmony Black series.

All in all, it was an enjoyable and fast pulp read. If you look for Urban Fantasy with strong female characters, it’s the series to consider. Just don't overanalyze this book.
