Sanguine Summer isn’t just another vampire story, it’s something more emotional and real. While there are creepy moments and classic vampire themes, the heart of the story is really about someone who feels lost and is just trying to find a place to belong. The main character feels more like a misunderstood person than a monster, and that made the story way more interesting.
Abe Moss did a great job mixing horror with real feelings. You feel for the main character because they aren’t just scary, they’re sad and lonely, and that makes their journey more powerful. It’s less about blood and more about finding acceptance.
Some parts were a little slow or could’ve gone deeper, but overall, it was a really good read. If you want a horror book that also makes you think and feel, Sanguine Summer is worth checking out.
