As Sharpe is sent on a special mission we discover more of his inner thoughts and see him in yet another difficult, even desperate situation. He's more hardened and more cinical, and this brings some unexpected practicality.
Napoleonic Wars played a big part in shaping Europe and I really enjoy this private way of observing the events through Sharpe's eyes.
