Anton by Brenda Rothert

3.0

Anton is the first book in a brand new hockey romance series by the lovely Ms. Rothert.

Characters & Chemistry.

Mia Marceau thought that she would be leading a different life but that isn’t the case. After finally leaving her cheating husband she has decided to go back to college but she also has to support her Grandfather who is a nursing facility. And she will do whatever it takes.

My heart broke for Mia and the lemons that she was given. Especially what she did to get her cheating husband to pay for the nursing home. I liked Mia but for me personally and domestic abuse is a serious topic be it physical or psychological abuse and no walk in the park. But there was more in Mia than the author showed us and I would have loved to have seen her full potential.

Father Anton Petrov is Chicago’s Blaze best player born in Russia he and his twin brother moved to the states to play hockey to lead a better life. He now leads that life and tries to pay that kindness back and forward basically in any way that he can. By helping where he can and looking after his Uncle Dix after he has had two strokes.

Anton has been celibate for a couple of years ever since he met Mia but he could never act on it because she was married to teammate. Anton is one of the best Hero’s that I have read about in a very long time, he is all about the heroine and would give her the moon. He is strong, patient a gentlemen and an all-round good guy.

These two had strong emotional chemistry but sexually nothing happened right till the end of the book because Mia didn’t want to be known as a cheater not like her soon to be ex-husband. They have sexually chemistry although I did skim. #sorry.

Writing, Plot & Pace.

I love the author’s writing and she truly is talented. The plot unfortunately isn’t unique but the execution is there are I did have the feels. So no complaints on my part. There is great build-up, emotions etc. but somehow it just fell flat in places. The pace is the same.

Verdict.

Enjoyable and a refreshing read especially as the Hero of the book was virtually celibate since he first saw our heroine. I can’t wait for the over books in the series Luca and Vic but especially Luca.
