And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini
4.0

"Nothing good came free. Even love. You paid for all things. And if you were poor, suffering was your currency."

Two points I would like to mention.

First. Hosseini is a master storyteller, that I know is true. He has that gift of choosing the right words, and right passages that whenever I am reading, I can perfectly picture it in front of my eyes. It was like being part of the story, your life intertwined with his characters and being able to breath the same air and live at that definite moment.

Second. The book is a grand example of how every individual's life is connected with one another. Our life choices affects another people one way or another. Every chapter is rich with history and emotion; every character has their own share of struggles and personal complexities. It started with a story of two siblings separated when they were children, and every chapter has been fueled with hints of how they will or will not be reunited in the end. I admire Hosseini's courage to tell the truth about Afghanistan, of how life has always been difficult and how life can be unforgiving.

P.S. I liked the book, yes, but I didn't devour the pages as much as I did with A Thousand Splendid Suns. ATSS is a gem.
