The Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan
3.0
I suppose it is hard for a professed atheist to properly reflect on the creative value of this work. And I know that I read a "carefully edited and abridged [edition] for the use of schools," but really, this book reads like a desperate plea for believing in Christianity. Like Dante's Inferno, I just found it a little ridiculous. How can anyone, even taking it as allegory, take this stuff seriously? But at least I have read it and know what it's about now.
