Who'd Have Thought by G Benson

26/11/23 - it’s been a few years since I first read this and yeah it still hits, such a great book. Still sad we didn’t get Luce’s reaction tho.

This is one of the best romance novels I've ever read, I loved the fake dating slow build and watching these two women get to know one another.

The romantic plot was very well developed and really made you root for these two women; the side plots of Hayden's family, Sam's family and even Luce being non-binary all added a lot of heart and soul to the characters.

This is definitely a romance I can see myself re-reading - which is saying something since even though I am a big re-reader I almost never like romances enough to read them more than once.

The only thing that surprised me is I expected there to be a reveal that same was possibly autistic - her inability to grasp social cues and situations made it seem like that might end up impacting the plot. It's possible she was coded that way but that it wasn't really relevant so it was never brought up. I'm not too sure but all in all, I really liked this take on the 'cold seemingly arrogant' rich love interest that exists in so many novels. She's not rich and haughty because she thinks she's better than everyone she just prioritises efficiency at her job over everything else and doesn't really understand how to be social.
