I picked this book up because it was advertised as a with similar vibes to Practical Magic. Admittedly, it does have some similar vibes: witches (sort of), a small town, and a romance with a newcomer. However, I found this book to be very... meh? I don't know how to describe it other than to say that I kept waiting for the interesting part and it never came, and then once things started to become interesting
(the trial)
, it ended very quickly. The characters were bland, the romance wasn't compelling, and the plot felt oddly paced. The writing was good and sometimes there was a glimmer of something that felt very Practical Magic-esque, but it never made up for the parts I didn't enjoy.

This was a quick read, the plot was a bit sad but also a bit therapeutic. I wish I had enjoyed it more, might just not have been a book for me.
