WOW. This genre defying book by acclaimed Inuit throat singer, Tanya Tagaq is incredibly powerful, transporting, lyrical and was made to be experienced on audio. Read by the author with included throat singing between chapters this is a book every Canadian should listen to at least once. It’s going to be one I re-listen to often. The prose and sounds are just so unique and beautiful.
Tagaq does an amazing job creating a sense of place and people. The beauty of the North, the land and its people as well as the darker sides of abuse and trauma.
I cannot recommend this book more and wish I hadn’t waited so long to experience it! Do yourself a huge favour and get a hold of this on audio!
