Browder's writing is a little too plain and straightforward for my liking—which is fair, he's not a writer—and at points I felt like I maybe wouldn't be his best friend in real life (his describing himself as a "kid from the south side of Chicago" is generous; I think he struggles at times to flesh out the women in the book; some of his stories ending in "and when I was done, everyone at Harvard clapped and cried" seemed self-aggrandizing, if noble). But at the end of the day, the story is bonkers enough that it's probably worth a read. That said, if it doesn't pull you in fairly quickly, I don't think it ever will, and you should probably move on. I enjoyed it though.
