Red Hood and the Outlaws, Volume 1: Redemption by Scott Lobdell

Picked this book up because I was told that this was a good Jason Todd story. Turns out Jason Todd is the only good thing about this comic.

Imagine my dismay when, a few pages in, I realized I picked up the horrible new 52 comic that was internet famous a few years back for ruining Starfire’s character. She, and almost all the other female characters in this comic, aren’t written like real people—they’re just sexually gratifying humanoids that only exist to be hot. If I live a hundred years and never see another shot of a woman dying in the ‘sexiest’ pose possible, I will have seen too many in my lifetime.

It’s a shame because there is a lot to like about this comic. The art style is great, and there were a number of moments where the humor or insights in the writing got to me. But there’s too much garbage to sift through to find the good stuff.

Oh, another complaint—turns out if you make one of the main characters annoying ON PURPOSE, it doesn’t make them any less annoying. That Hawkeye wannabe could die in the next issue and I wouldn’t give a HOOT.
