This book is like a lot, a lot. Spoiler The gross physical and emotional abuse that the father visits on his daughters is intense and very off-putting. I appreciate the fairy-tale subversion (and this is dark even when compared to the original Grimm tales) and all, but I felt really uncomfortable for most of this book. . Which I think is the point in many ways and it is undeniably well-done, but it is hard to say I enjoyed it in particular.
