The Prophet and the Idiot by Jonas Jonasson

4.0

Quirky world-travelling madcap end-of-world plot.

Jonasson writes totally bonkers stories. I've tried a few now. There are similarities. The great characters, a strong plot line. Then a lot of fast-moving quirk in the story and they end up in different countries with famous people and the story takes a tangent.

Here an untrained astrophysicist who calculates the end of the world in mere weeks meets a naive young man (whom his controlling brother calls The Idiot) as she is about to give up on life. With some rather nice food and the idea of making the most of their last days, the two will soon become a three. And maybe even meet Obama.

It's crazy stuff. Funny, but bonkers. An entertaining audiobook but I do admit to losing concentration in the second half when the plot loses a bit of focus.

On the same vein as his previous, the author does come up with some great character combinations and filmable plots.
