The Call of the Wild by Jack London

5.0

A short novel, written from the point of view of Buck, the St Bernard/Shepherd mix who is stolen from a peaceful California mansion and pressed into service as a sled dog.

I'm pretty sure that nobody knows more about dogs than Jack London.

My only quibble is London's tendency to draw his characters larger than life. Buck isn't just a dog, he's Superdog. Smarter, faster, stronger, and luckier than any other dog he meets.

It's a good yarn though, so I'll forgive him.
