Pride and Protest is a modern take on Pride and Prejudice and to be honest, I have never read or seen Pride and Prejudice, so I have nothing to compare it to. However, Pride and Protest was everything and more! The storyline was great, and the characters were even better. I loved how diverse this book is with a Black female lead and Filipino male lead with Latina and Korean secondary characters.

I will admit, I personally thought this book did start pretty rocky with Dorsey making comments on Liza's hair and Liza mistaking Dorsey as Latino and not Filipino, but the character development made up for it in the end.

I also do wish that there was a little more protest in this book, Liza always seemed to be a day late and a dollar short when it came to protesting for important causes but I think that was supposed to attribute to her almost clumsy-like personality.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more of Nikki Payne’s books in the future!
