Red Sky over Hawaii by Sara Ackerman

Did not finish book. Stopped at 31%.
Read over 120 pages still trying to give this book a chance bc it'd promised me some heart-rending found family stuff with a WWII backdrop, but it failed me. Lana and the writing structure is so mind numbingly boring. The mystic Japanese guy™️ and Coco weren't that better off either. I wanted to like the kid but they're all just so meh. Maybe I had to simmer in this book more and see if I could look past the cliches but I'm just not up for it. I'll admit this is a me problem. I'm not a slow burn reader (usually, and I'm currently going through the throes of a tooth infection, my mind is barely functioning tbh) and much less romance reader and this story leans heavily on that. Especially when the LI is a freaking fed, eww. Also, the pro lifey undertone I got from this really deflated this book even further for me; I just had to dnf.
