This book took me ages to get through. Two whole months exactly. I'm not sure if it was the book, or just an overall reading slump. This book is best described as a historical YA fantasy. The WWI aspects of the book just didn't interest me. I'm not a historical genre person (whether it's romance or not) so this was kind of a stretch for me to begin with. However, I heard really good things, so I stuck it through. I'm glad that I did, it ended a lot better than I thought it would. Once I was finally able to get invested into it (i.e.

when Roman showed up to Avalon Bluff

) it was a lot easier for me to finish. I'm looking forward to the next book and I'd say if you don't mind YA historical (with a touch of fantasy) then it's a good book.
